SONS website: a search box and command cards such as Atenção, Sentido and Descansar, each with play and pause buttons.

Overview

A Tiro de Guerra is where conscripts from smaller Brazilian cities do their military service, and much of the training is recognizing spoken commands. SONS gathers those recordings in one place.

Problem

Conscripts had no way to hear the commands again outside of formation.

Approach

A static site with no backend, fast on any phone.

How it works

  1. Library

About fifty recordings grouped by category, with play and pause buttons.

  2. Search

Filters the recordings as you type.

Key decisions

  • Static on purpose

With no server there is nothing to maintain, and the site is still online.

  • Honest scope

The simulator and quizzes described on the page were planned but never built.

Result

Live on Vercel, with public source code.
